Under Settings you can set up and manage you Shop Settings, which consist out of the following items:

  1. General

  2. Custom Domain

  3. Social Media

  4. Tracking Tools

  5. Endorsements

  • General:

Here you will find shop details, customize your domain, add social media pages, managing tracking tools and your endorsement rate.

  • Custom domain:

If you have a custom domain, fill the domain in and click 'Add domain' to add it to your shop. Follow the steps on the following screen.

  1. Ask your domain provider to point the domain to IP address 176.58.109.156. Make sure to point the wildcard and the www records. They will know what you are talking about.

  2. If you've just made a change, remember that this can take up to 48 hours to take effect, so check back in 48 hours.

To register a custom domain, we recommend you visit www.registerdomain.co.za, and purchase your custom domain here.If you want custom email to go with it, you need to purchase web hosting too. If not, then just the purchasing the domain name will be fine.

  • Social media:

For more marketing, you can set up Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Pinterest, and Google Plus accounts and link them to your shop.  Just add your social media accounts into the boxes provided.  This will automatically add the social media icons to your shop and link through to your social media pages.  Make sure you test the links to ensure that you've entered them correctly.

  • Tracking Tools:

Option 1: Google Analytics:
It will be wise for you to set up a Google Analytics account to monitor your shop's statistics.  Here you can link your google analytics account to your shop by inserting your google analytics code into the input box.  Your google analytics code should look something like this: UA-16389967-1

Option 2: Google Webmaster Tools:
Create a Google Webmaster Tools account and add your verification code in the input box provided and click "Update Shop".

Option 3: Clicktale:
Clicktale provides qualitative user analysis, measuring detailed information on how your site is used. Register a clicktale account

Option 4: Google Remarketing:
Remarketing lets you show ads to people who have visited your website or used your mobile app before. Follow the steps to get a verification code and add it to the provided field.

Option 5: Facebook Pixel:
The Facebook pixel enables you to measure, optimize and build audiences for your ad campaigns. Using the Facebook pixel, you can leverage the actions people take on your website across devices to inform more effective Facebook advertising campaigns. Follow the steps to get a verification code and add the pixel base code number into the provided field.

  • Endorsements:

This is where you fill in the endorsement percentage you will earn when endorsing products from other Shopstar stores.

Your shop settings will probably only be set up at the beginning and never again. But if you need to change them during your shop's life, you can always come back and make your changes.
